The Sheridan girls basketball team picked up its first Hoosier Heartland Conference victory of the season on Thursday, winning at Carroll 43-29.
The Blackhawks got off to a good start, leading 14-4 after the first quarter. The Cougars cut that lead to 22-16 by halftime, but Sheridan outscored Carroll in both periods of the second half.
Heather Barker scored 12 points, while Jillian O’Flaherty hit three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points. Heather Barker and Holly Barker each cleared five rebounds. The Blackhawks had 24 team steals, with Heather Barker making seven, Allison Delph five and O’Flaherty four.
Sheridan is 1-1 in the HHC and 5-3 overall. The ‘Hawks will host Clinton Central at 6 p.m. tonight in the first game of a girl-boy doubleheader.
