Sheridan Community Schools recognized as national Advanced Placement Honor Roll District

Sheridan Community Schools was recently recognized as a national Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll District by the College Board. Sheridan was one of only 12 districts in the State of Indiana to receive this honor. In addition, only 373 districts across the U.S. and Canada were recognized on the ninth annual list published by the organization.

In order to be placed on the AP Honor Roll, a school district must simultaneously increase access to AP courses to a broader number of students while maintaining or improving student performance on AP exams given at the end of every course.

Most recently Sheridan High School expanded AP course offerings to include Advanced Placement Environmental Science. Sheridan students have the opportunity to complete 10 different AP courses (AP World History, AP United States History, AP Government, AP Psychology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus, AP Studio Art: 2D, AP Studio Art: 3-D and AP Studio Art: Drawing) during their high school career potentially leading to college credit at universities across the nation. Additional expansion of Advanced Placement courses to include AP Spanish at Sheridan High School has already begun for the 2019-2020 school year as this initiative continues.

“Being recognized as an AP Honor Roll district is a fantastic honor for our students, teachers, school and community,” said Sheridan High School Principal Rick Davis. “Recognitions such as these validate our efforts to provide and expand high quality opportunities for our students while keeping student success as our priority.”
