Last week was an exciting week for Sheridan Community Schools. Three ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held to officially open the state-of-the-art turf facility. With ideal weather conditions, students, staff, and community members came together to celebrate this addition to the school’s athletic amenities.

Athletic Director Beth DeVinney took the lead in organizing the events, ensuring that each ceremony was a memorable occasion for all involved. Her efforts were widely praised, reflecting the strong sense of school pride that was evident throughout the week.

The celebrations began on Wednesday with the girls soccer team taking to the new turf. The next day, the boys soccer team had their moment in the spotlight, marking another milestone in the school’s athletic history.

The week’s festivities culminated on Friday with a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony for the football team, marching band, and cheerleading squad. The event was a fitting conclusion to a week filled with school spirit, as the Blackhawk community gathered to cheer on their teams and celebrate the new facility.

Superintendent Dave Mundy expressed his enthusiasm for the project.

“Our new turf and overall facility upgrades are a game-changer for our students and our community,” Mundy said. “It represents our commitment to providing top-notch resources that not only enhance our athletic and performing arts programs but also help bring our community together. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, and it’s exciting to see our students already benefiting from it. The ribbon-cuttings were all three incredible events and a true testament to the unity and pride within Sheridan Community Schools. The new turf facility is more than just an upgrade; it’s a symbol of the school’s dedication to excellence in all areas of student life.”

As the week drew to a close and the last of the celebrations wrapped up, one thing was clear: it was another great week to be a Blackhawk.
