Sheridan boys set 3-point record in win

The Sheridan-Taylor Friday night girls-boys Hoosier Heartland Conference doubleheader at Hobbs Memorial Gymnasium finished with a record-setting night by the Blackhawks boys team.
Sheridan made a school record 13 3-pointers (breaing the old record of 12 3s) in its 53-34 win over Taylor. The ‘Hawks started the game with an outstanding performance, leading 14-2 after the first quarter. Dylan Cork made three 3s in that period.
Sheridan then jumped ahead 28-8 at halftime, with Ethan Moistner nailing three 3s on his way to 11 points. Moistner threw in three more triples in the third quarter, which ended with the Blackhawks ahead 44-15.
Cork, Moistner and Tyler Lowder each made one 3 in the fourth period. Moistner finished the game with seven 3-pointers and a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Cork totaled four 3s and scored 13 points, also collecting seven rebounds. Lowder and Jacob Shreve both had one triple.
Sheridan had 40 team rebounds, with 10 for Nolan Buckner and five for Silas DeVaney. Buckner handed out four assists and DeVaney made two blocked shots.
In the girls game, the Blackhawks fell 39-25 in their regular-season finale. The Titans led 9-3 after the first quarter and 17-6 at halftime. Riley Reed hit four 3-pointers for Sheridan, including three in the fourth period, to score 12 points.
The Blackhawks girls finished 1-7 in conference play and 8-13 overall. They will host next week’s Class 2A Sectional 38 and play a first-round game Tuesday against Seeger.
Sheridan’s boys are 2-5 in HHC play and 5-11 overall. They will travel to North Miami tonight.
