Sheridan beats University in all-county game

Sheridan finished strong in an all-county softball game on Wednesday, beating University 10-1 at RoundTripper Academy.
The Blackhawks scored their first run in the top of the second inning, when Addyson Ream got home on a passed ball. In the third inning, Riley Reed hit a sacrifice bunt to score Allie Delph.
The Trailblazers scored their run in the bottom of the third, with Sophia Hwang getting home on a passed ball. Sheridan added a run in the top of the fourth, when Breanna Bouse singled in Caitlin Neese.
The ‘Hawks began to take control in the fifth inning, scoring two runs. Katy Crail led off with a home run, then Neese singled in Ream. Sheridan then poured in four runs in the sixth inning: Crail batted in Emma Went, Reed’s center field single scored Crail, Jayden Warren tripled in Reed, and Ream brought home Jayden Warren with a center field hit.
The Blackhawks added one more run in the seventh inning, when Bouse singled in Mia Brooks. Ream finished the game 3-for-3, while Crail, Shelby Hammack, Neese, Bouse and Went all had two hits. Bouse went three innings for the pitching win, Ream relieved her in the fourth and struck out seven.
“We’re getting better every single day,” said Sheridan coach Andi Malcolm. “We’ve got a very young team, and so we’re going to continue to grind and work hard every single day to get better and better, and that’s all I can ask for them.”
On Tuesday, University cruised to a 16-1, five-inning win at Anderson Prep Academy.
The Trailblazers scored in each inning, including nine runs in the top of the fourth. Haley Tomlinson hit a triple, while Tatiana Dunipace was 2-for-2, including a double. Kendra Stevens pitched a complete game, striking out eight and allowing two hits.
Sheridan lost a Hoosier Heartland Conference game to Rossville 4-2 on Tuesday.
The Hornets led 2-0 after four innings. The Blackhawks tied the game in the top of the fifth when Jayden Warren hit a two-RBI single to score Shelby Hammack and Katy Crail. But Rossville took the lead back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Bouse started the game in the circle, tossing four strikeouts. Ream struck out six in relief.
