United Way of Central Indiana announced last week that Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County has been approved for accreditation and can apply for United Way grants in basic needs, family opportunity, and social innovation, as well as access training, technical assistance, and capacity building programs.
The programs and services of Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County align with United Way’s basic needs goals to provide the essentials to the community’s most vulnerable members and life-saving assistance to those in emergency situations in Central Indiana.
To receive accreditation with United Way, a nonprofit in the human services sector must meet all legal requirements for a nonprofit agency in the State of Indiana; align with United Way’s focus areas of education, financial stability, health and basic needs; and serve individuals and families in Boone, Hancock, Hamilton, Hendricks, Marion, and Morgan counties.
“We are grateful for the impact United Way of Central Indiana’s COVID-19 pandemic response funding had for seniors in our community. We were able to ensure that seniors remained safe and healthy during this difficult time,” said Lauren Guynn, Executive Director of Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County. “Our new accreditation allows us to continue this great partnership to change the way people age in Hamilton County.”
To date, there are 91 accredited community-based organizations of United Way of Central Indiana. Applications are reviewed on an invitation-only basis.
