Shepherd Center of Hamilton County receives $2,500 grant

Horizon Bank has awarded a grant to Shepherd Center of Hamilton County, 1250 Conner St., Noblesville.

A check in the amount of $2,500 was presented on Feb. 11 by Connie Chesney, Horizon Bank’s Business Banker and Branch Manager of Noblesville, to Lauren Guynn, Director of the Shepherd Center of Hamilton County.

The grant money will be used to fund the Reaching Resources program. The program takes a proactive and holistic approach to helping older adults connect with resources to age in place, maintain independence and improve quality of life. Reaching Resources is a guide, advocate, and support for older adults in Hamilton County. The core mission of the Shepherd’s Center is to provide programs and services to allow seniors to safely age in a place for as long as possible.

“Reaching Resources is the hub for all things relating to aging in the community, we are thrilled to support an organization and program that is making an important difference in the lives of so many,” Chesney said. “The work the Shepard Center does to improve the quality of life for those in the community is truly great to witness.”

The program involves an assessment on needs and strengths, as well as making a plan for the next three to five years. In addition, Reaching Resources will help find other services and resources that may benefit the individual in their area.
