Sheep die in Atlanta barn fire

Seven local fire departments were called to Atlanta after a barn caught fire Sunday morning.

According to Jackson Township Fire Department, crews were called to the 2100 block of East 296th Street around 5 a.m. Sunday on reports of a barn fire.

Fire Chief Jeff Muszar said crews could see the fire from miles away and when they arrived to the scene, they found a large barn “fully engulfed” in flames. Sheep were inside the barn at the time of the fire.

The fire was contained to the barn; however, several sheep died as a result.

Fire crews from Noblesville, Cicero, Sheridan, White River Township, Wayne Township and Cicero Township/Tipton County responded to the fire.

A cause for the fire has not yet been released. An investigation is ongoing.
