Shamrocks win conference meet on fifth-man score over Southeastern

The Westfield boys golf team won an incredible Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet Monday at Bear Slide.

The Shamrocks played to a 279-279 tie with Hamilton Southeastern, and Westfield won on the fifth-man score. In addition, all six ‘Rocks golfers finished All-Conference. The 279 score is a new team record.

Jake Cesare led the way as individual medalist, carding a five-under par 66 and tying the individual 18-hole conference record. Cam Kooi scored a 69, going two under par. Will Harvey and Matt Shull both had 72s, Kaden Mendler scored 75 and Ryan Cesare totaled a 76.

The Royals were led by under-par rounds from Cole Starnes (68, three under), Lane Zedrick (69, two under) and Mattingly Upchurch (70, one under). Kai Warner scored a 72 and joined the other three on the All-Conference team. Nate Benson totaled 80 and Tyler Marcinko carded 81.

Noblesville placed fourth with a 310, just behind third-place Zionsville’s 309. Alex Peck led the Millers with a 72, making the All-Conference team. Other Noblesville scores were Drew Werkley 78, Rory Bushong 79, Cooper Claussen 81, Drew Decker 81 and Will Barnes 83.

Fishers placed fifth with a 318. Tommy Klinker and Ryan Stewart both scored 77s for the Tigers, followed by Henry Keithley 80, Sam Keithley 84, Will Major 87 and Jonathan Ash 88.
