Westfield’s girls basketball team picked up a Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory over Avon Tuesday, beating the Orioles 56-48 at CSI Gymnasium.
Avon led 13-9 after one quarter, with the Shamrocks cutting that advantage to 22-21 by halftime. Sam Price scored six points in the first half, while Meg Hamilton added six second-quarter points.
Westfield surged ahead in the third period, scoring 17 points for a 38-32 lead going into the fourth. Price got going with eight points in that quarter, while Aubrey Crockett added five points. The ‘Rocks put up 18 points in the fourth, including an 8 of 9 performance from the free-throw line.
Price totaled 18 points, while MaKayla Hatcher finished with 13 points, scoring in each quarter. Hamilton scored 10 points.
The Shamrocks are 3-1 in conference play and 7-4 overall. Westfield travels to Noblesville Saturday afternoon for another HCC game.
