Westfield won an all-county softball game at Hamilton Heights on Wednesday, 17-6 in six innings.
The Shamrocks got ahead early, scoring two runs in the first inning. Avery Parker led off with a double, and Reghan Oland singled her home. Oland later scored when Sara Harmeyer hit a sacrifice fly.
In the third inning, Zoe Klink hit a three-run home run to put Westfield up 6-0. Oland’s RBI bunt made the lead 7-0.
The Huskies got two runs back in the third inning. Bayleigh Runner led off with a double and scored on Adyson Baber’s RBI groundout. Belle Neiling singled in Hayley Greene to get Heights within 7-2. But the Shamrocks added 10 runs over the next three innings, giving them a run-rule victory.
“Last couple years, we’ve played some really competitive games with these guys, and I think tonight, we just got some timely hitting, had some breaks,” said Shamrocks coach Brian Revercomb. “But always a good team to play against and good competition for us.”
Natalie Deck finished the game 4-for-4 at the plate, including two doubles. Deck scored three runs and batted in one more. Zoe Klink was 4-for-5, totaling five RBI. Oland had three hits, while Parker, Lexi Martin, Harmeyer and Alexis McClure all had two. Klink and Parker each hit a double. McClure also got the pitching win.
Hayley Greene had two hits for the Huskies, including a double.
The Shamrocks are 6-14 and play a doubleheader Saturday morning at Southmont. Heights is 4-12 and plays at 5:30 p.m. today at Pike.
