Shamrocks’ strong second half spells win over Bishop Chatard

Westfield used a strong second half to beat Bishop Chatard 48-40 Wednesday in a game at CSI Gymnasium.

The score was tied at 9-9 after the first quarter, then the Trojans led 21-18 at halftime. Lindsey Van Dyke and Sam Price helped to keep the Shamrocks in the game by scoring eight points each; Van Dyke made two 3-pointers.

Westfield took control in the third quarter, outscoring Chatard 14-8 to take a 32-29 lead going into the fourth. MaKayla Hatcher scored eight points in the third and Price added six. The ‘Rocks put up 16 more in points in the fourth, with Price scoring eight and Hatcher contributing six.

Price led the way with 22 points, getting at least four points in each quarter. Hatcher finished with 14 and Van Dyke had 10.

Westfield is 13-6 and plays Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Heights.
