Westfield ran into a tough Brownsburg team on Homecoming night, with the Class 6A No. 7 Bulldogs beating the 6A No. 10 Shamrocks 34-14 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Riverview Health Field.
Brownsburg jumped up 10-0 after the first quarter and led 17-0 at halftime. The Bulldogs were up 31-0 early in the fourth before Westfield got on the board, which it did when Micah Hauser made a six-yard run into the end zone.
The Shamrocks got one more touchdown late in the fourth, when Nick Talley threw a pass to Jack Pfeiffer, who scrambled his way into the end zone. Sean Sullivan made both extra-point kicks.
Hauser was Westfield’s leading rusher, gaining 67 yards on seven catches. Camden Simons started as quarterback and went 13-of-25 for 111 yards, with Tally completing 6 of 8 attempts for 82 yards.
Dane Wheeler had the most Shamrock receptions with five. On defense, David Frey led the way with 12 tackles, while Hauser and Eli Patchett both made eight stops.
Westfield is 2-2 in HCC play and 4-2 overall. The ‘Rocks will get another tough assignment next week, traveling to conference leader and undefeated Avon.
