Westfield dominated in a battle of undefeated teams on Saturday, as the Class 4A No. 9 Shamrocks took care of 2A No. 6 Tipton 83-58 at The Rock.
The Blue Devils came into the game unbeaten in eight games, but Westfield was in charge from the start. The ‘Rocks led 26-13 after the first quarter and 50-30 at halftime.
Braden Smith scored 22 straight points in the first period, and finished with 35 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and two blocked shots. Smith made six 3-pointers for the game.
Cam Haffner added 17 points, while Eli Patchett went 4-for-4 from 3-point range to score 12 points. Patchett also collected five rebounds. Benji Welch handed out four assists; Westfield had 21 team assists.
The Shamrocks are 6-0 for the season. Westfield will be off for a couple weeks before returning to action Saturday, Jan. 4 for a home game with Victory College Prep.
