Shamrocks grab road shutout at Brownsburg

The ‘Rocks are starting to find their baseball groove and it’s at the right time, getting into the conference portion of their schedule. Westfield was able to put together a shutout of the host Bulldogs on Thursday, 7-0.

Brayden Hibler walked with one out and tried to move to second, but was picked off at first base for the second out. Matt Drozlek singled to right. Evan Russ doubled to have runners at second and third with two down.

Nick Alm helped start the Shamrock scoring. Alm hit an infield single to short that sent Drozlek home for a 1-0 score.

Westfield scored twice in each of the fifth through seventh innings to solidify the league win, 7-0.

Russ led the ‘Rocks with two hits and an RBI double. The Lindsey brothers would also be key contributors offensively. Sophomore Caden Lindsey had a two-run double, scored twice and also walked two times. Senior Collin Lindsey had an RBI single and scored a run to help highlight the offense. Eli Manbeck scored two of the seven runs.

Jacob Culp was dealing and had an outstanding night on the mound, going 6.2 innings, allowing six hits, walking one and striking out 10 Bulldogs.

Westfield (4-2, 2-1 HCC) hosts Brownsburg (3-3, 0-3 HCC) in the second game of the series tonight for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Shamrock Field.
