Westfield dropped its Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener on Friday, falling to Zionsville 77-61 at the Eagles’ gym.
Zionsville took control of the game early, leading 23-8 after the first quarter and 40-21 at halftime. The Shamrocks finished the game strong, outscoring the Eagles 26-13 in the fourth period.
Freshman Braden Smith led Westfield with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Zach Banks had 12 points and four assists, while Caleb Welch added nine points. Jaret Bailey pulled four rebounds, with Banks, Smith and Zach Bryer all grabbing three.
The Shamrocks are 1-2 and are off until Saturday, Dec. 8, when they welcome New Palestine to The Rock.
