The Westfield girls basketball team won the Lauren Hill Classic Shootout, hosted by Lawrenceburg last Friday.
The Shamrocks beat East Central 44-28 in their first game. Westfield led 14-6 after one quarter and 27-14 at halftime. Meg Hamilton made three 3-pointers in the first half. The ‘Rocks pulled away further in the third period, outscoring the Trojans 12-2 to take a 39-16 lead.
Ten different Westfield players scored, led by Hamilton’s 11 points. Lindsey Van Dyke scored nine and Sam Price added seven.
In the championship game, the Shamrocks beat host Lawrenceburg 53-30. The Tigers led 13-10 after the first period, but Westfield came back in the second quarter to take a 27-18 halftime lead. The ‘Rocks cruised through the third period and led 44-24 going into the fourth.
Westfield also won both of its junior varsity games. The Shamrocks beat East Central 42-36, with Lizzy Foster and Paisley Crawford each scoring 12 points. Westfield defeated Lawrenceburg 49-16; Adley Russell scored 17 points and Foster had 13 points.
Price scored 16 points for Westfield, while Van Dyke had 11 points. MaKayla Hatcher scored seven.
Westfield is 12-6 and hosts Bishop Chatard on Wednesday before playing Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Heights.
