The Westfield baseball team won an all-county game with Carmel Wednesday, 19-1 in five innings at the Class 4A No. 1 Shamrocks’ field.
Westfield got two hits from Trey Dorton, Keaton Mahan and Maximus Webster, who also batted in three runs. Mahan and Webster each hit a double. Jacob Culp got the pitching win.
“Jacob Culp was really good on the mound, very proud of him,” said Shamrocks coach Ryan Bunnell. “He gave us a quality start which was important against a good team like Carmel and also with us having four games in four days. It kept us out of the pen which is big. Offensively, we put together a lot of really good at-bats, and defensively we made the routine play along with a few plus plays. It’s really the first game we’ve put together all three phases of the game, so really happy about that. Keaton Mahan had a big night and Maximus Webster had a really good night as well.”
Case Sullivan and Kenny Bruntlett both had a hit for the Greyhounds, with Bruntlett batting Sullivan in for Carmel’s lone run.
