Westfield picked up its first Hoosier Crossroads Conference win of the season on Friday, beating Avon 56-52 at The Rock.
The Shamrocks got off to a great start, leading 20-6 after the first quarter. That lead carried Westfield through the game, helping them to hold off an Orioles comeback in the fourth period. Westfield led 31-18 at halftime.
Four Shamrocks reached double figures. Chris Chin scored 13 points, while Caleb Welch made three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points. Josh Van Dyke and Garrett Pollard both scored 10. Camden Simons grabbed six rebounds, while Chin collected five.
Westfield is now 1-3 in the conference and 6-8 overall. The ‘Rocks continue conference play on Thursday with a trip to Fishers.
