As SERVE Noblesville enters its 10th year of “connecting compassionate neighbors” through community service projects, organizers are looking to make this summer’s volunteer blitz the biggest one yet.
The nonprofit hopes to mobilize 1,000 volunteers to work on 100 projects during 2021 SERVE Week, scheduled for June 23-26.
“In SERVE Noblesville’s 10th year of community partnerships, we’re really celebrating the resiliency, compassion, and generosity that this community has shown,” said Patrick Propst, SERVE Noblesville co-founder. “This last year has revealed the need and the desire for us to come together in significant ways, and we look forward to helping our neighbors do exactly that in our 10th year!”
Since its formation in 2012, SERVE Noblesville has engaged more than 5,000 volunteers to help with nearly 500 community projects. Projects can be almost anything: Mulching, gardening, painting, sidewalk restoration, neighborhood cleanups, and much more. Volunteers tackle needed tasks alongside a project leader who provides any necessary guidance.
Ideas for this year’s projects are being accepted from Feb. 22 through April 15 online at servenoblesville.com under the ‘SERVE Week’ tab. Project leaders and groups also can sign up now. Volunteer registration for individuals opens during the Come Together Weekend held over Memorial Day weekend, May 28-31.
SERVE Noblesville also is seeking sponsors for both SERVE Week and its third Noblesville Cultural Celebration, launched in 2018 to celebrate the cultural diversity found in Noblesville. The event, which was not held last year because of the pandemic, features booths highlighting food, music and traditions from all over the world. This year’s date has yet to be determined.
Sponsorships start at $250, making it easy for families, faith communities, and small businesses to participate. Sponsors can choose which project to support and are recognized on a yard sign at the project site. A title sponsorship for Serve Noblesville’s 10th anniversary is still available.
Since 2019, the organization has kicked off the summer volunteer season with a community-wide Come Together campaign over Memorial Day Weekend. The initiative encourages residents to connect with one another through a wide array of activities intended to inspire respect and a sense of belonging. Participants are urged to share pictures, videos and success stories on SERVE Noblesville’s social media pages. This year’s Come Together Weekend is May 28-31.
