Dear Editor:
In this not-so-festive, governmentally locked-down Yuletide Season, the mayor of Carmel comes up with a $125 million addition to the city’s $1.6 billion debt.
He’s asking the city council to limber up their rubber stamps and add to the $215 million in principal and interest added already this year.
His terrific, tone-deaf, arbitrary Season’s Greeting inspired the following summation:
‘Twas the week before Christmas,
And all through the town,
The debt-burdened non-mayors
Got the real run-around.
The Council was busy
And hoping the non-mayors
Were busy, not looking.
How many Carmel youngsters will find fewer gifts because of that lockdown is unsure. We do know their future already is mortgaged and Mayor Grinch just added to the burden.
