More than 35 Auburns, Cords, and Duesenbergs will roll into Carmel on Wednesday, Aug. 30, as part of the 67th annual Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival.

The classic car owners will travel from Auburn, Ind., and be welcomed to Carmel with a police escort. Then, they will drive along 96th Street to see the classic car sculptures before ending their tour at Carter Green for a special event at Hotel Carmichael.

The public is invited to visit Carter Green from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to see the cars up close. The car owners will be hosted at Feinstein’s for lunch and a presentation by Arlon Bayliss, the sculptor who created the classic car roundabout sculptures on 96th Street between Keystone Parkway and White River.

Brainard

“We are thrilled to welcome the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival to Carmel and look forward to celebrating these classic cars with their owners,” Mayor Jim Brainard said. “We share their passion for these beautiful classics, which inspired us to install the classic car sculptures on 96th Street, three of which are completed and one more to come.”

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival was established in 1956 with a handful of enthusiasts and has been the annual reunion event for classic car lovers and top-tier judging ever since. Each year the Club and Festival have coordinated staging these amazing cars on location the week before to promote the annual Labor Day Festival.

Bill Hohler, Festival Board and Club member, said, “The Hoosier Tour has been visiting regional cities for nearly 50 years. We are excited this will be our first visit to Carmel! We applaud their initiative to include automotive sculptures in their cityscape and we look forward to visiting.”
