A Hamilton County sectional showdown will be taking place tonight at Larry Hobbs Hall.
Class 2A Sectional 43 host Sheridan takes on University at 6 p.m. tonight in the first semifinal. The winner of that game advances to Saturday’s sectional championship, where it will take on the winner of the Park Tudor-Covenant Christian semifinal that follows the first game.
The host Blackhawks are 13-8 for the season, including victories in the two games they played in the final week of the regular season. Sheridan beat Western Boone 61-44 last Monday and Waldron 59-56 last Friday.
The ‘Hawks have four players scoring in double digits for the season. Junior Caleb Wright leads the way with 13.6 points per game, followed by senior Trent DeCraene with 13.1, freshman Trey Page with 13.0 and junior Damon Winston with 10.9.
Winston is the top rebounder with 6.5 per contest, followed by senior Tyler Garner with 6.0. Wright pulls 4.2 per game. DeCraene has been a standout passer for the season, dishing out 7.5 assists per game. Winston has 1.8 blocked shots per contest.
The Trailblazers are 11-12 and were also winners for their regular-season finale, beating Phalen Academy 82-67 last Thursday. University has three double-figure scorers: Junior Max McComb leads with 12.4 points per game, followed by senior Bryce Gray with 10.5 and sophomore Blake Gray with 10.0.
Sophomore Cooper Cammack is the leading rebounder with 5.6 per game. Senior Montgomery Holland is next in line with 5.0 rebounds per contest and leads in blocks per game with 1.7. McComb has 1.2 blocks. Bryce Gray averages 3.8 assists per game.

Hamilton Heights travels to New Castle tonight for the first semifinal at Class 3A Sectional 24. The Huskies take on Yorktown, with tipoff at 6 p.m. The second semifinal follows between the host Trojans and Delta.
The Yorktown Tigers are 13-10 for the season and opened sectional play Tuesday with a 64-45 victory over Centerville. Senior Kieran Tewari leads the Yorktown scoring with 14.5 points per game, followed by senior Jacob Grim with 10.3 points.
Senior Mason Moulton is the top rebounder, collecting 4.9 per contest. Grim hands out 3.7 assists per game, followed by Tewari with 3.1.
Heights is 10-13 for the season, beating Rensselaer Central 67-55 in its regular-season finale last Friday. Senior Sam Dawson scored 21 points in that victory, including four 3-pointers. Senior Tillman Etchison added 18 points and junior Dreydin Serna scored 10.
