Sectional baseball games postponed

Friday’s rainy weather forced the postponement of the baseball sectional semi-final games that involved Hamilton County teams.
The games at Class 4A Sectional 8 at Westfield were pushed back to this afternoon. Carmel and Fishers will play the first semi-final at 4 p.m., to be followed by the second semi-final between the Shamrocks and Noblesville. That game will begin around 6 p.m. The championship game at Westfield is still scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday.
Hamilton Heights and Guerin Catholic were to play each other Friday in the semi-finals of Class 3A Sectional 24 at Yorktown. That game has been re-scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday and will be followed by the second semi-final between New Castle and Yorktown. Semi-final winners will play the championship game that evening at 6 p.m.
Sheridan, playing in Class 1A Sectional 54 at Frontier, also saw its Friday game pushed back. The Blackhawks will take on Rossville at 4 p.m. today in the first semi-final, with the second semi-final between Tri-County and Clinton Central to follow. The championship game is set for 11 a.m. Monday.
SOFTBALL AT HEIGHTS ON MONDAY
The rain also forced the Class 3A Sectional 24 softball championship game between No. 2-ranked Guerin Catholic and No. 1 Yorktown to be pushed back.
The game was originally scheduled for 11 a.m. today, but concerns about field conditions have moved it back to 11 a.m. Monday. The winner of the game will then play the Regional 12 championship at Norwell at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Norwell beat Mississinewa 12-1 on Thursday to win the Sectional 23 title.
Noblesville’s softball team will play Sectional 7 winner Harrison at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Raiders’ field for the Regional 3 title. Harrison, coached by former Carmel standout Kelsi Jones, beat Kokomo 5-4 at Logansport on Thursday to win its sectional.
