In a recent report, Scripps News found Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) to be the most active and effective Republican Senator legislatively this year using data from GovTrack.us.
This follows on the heels of the non-partisan Center for Effective Lawmaking naming Sen. Braun the most effective first-term Republican Senator in the last two-year period, as well as the most effective Republican in the categories of Health and Agriculture.
Craig Volden, co-director of the Center for Effective Lawmaking, also noted Sen. Braun’s accomplishment of defining a portfolio that effectively represents the issues his constituents care about, including his appointment as Ranking Member of the Aging Committee.
Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) was the other Senator Scripps named as most active.
Sen. Braun made this statement on his ranking:
“When I was elected, I promised Hoosiers that I would come to Washington to fight for them and get results,” Sen. Braun said. “I’m proud to be named the most active and effective Republican Senator and to represent Hoosier work ethic here in Washington.”
Sen. Braun serves on the Aging Committee, Agriculture Committee, Budget Committee, Appropriations Committee, and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP). He has sponsored 76 bills in the 118th Congress and cosponsored 336 bills so far.
