Hamilton Southeastern took care of Ben Davis 54-33 last Saturday in a home game to improve its record to 2-0.

The Royals led 15-5 after one quarter; the Giants made a second-quarter comeback to cut HSE’s lead to 22-17 by halftime. But the Royals made a 15-point run in the middle of the third period, scoring 19 points in total that quarter for a 41-22 advantage. Southeastern added another 13 points in the fourth.

Maya Makalusky scored 17 points for the Royals and collected seven rebounds, with Abigale Brown scoring 12. Kennedy Holman was everywhere, with nine points, six rebounds and six assists. Kayla Stidham grabbed five rebounds.

Southeastern plays at Franklin Community on Wednesday, its only game this week.

Carmel hosted Evansville Central last Saturday and lost a close game 69-62. The Bears led 15-14 after one quarter and 32-25 at halftime. Catherine Bassi scored 10 points in the half, including a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers.

Evansville Central held a 52-43 advantage after three quarters. Carmel outscored the Bears 19-17 in the fourth quarter, but EC held on for the win.

Izzy Shepherd led the scoring with 20 points, draining two 3s. Bassi scored 19 points and totaled four triples. Mackenzie Woods and Lauren Perry each added six points.

The Greyhounds are 0-2 and play at Crispus Attucks Friday, their only game of the week.
