October 15, 1949 – January 30, 2024
Sandra “Sandy” Jean Tolley, 74, Arcadia, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born in Lebanon, Ind., on October 15, 1949, to the late Herschel and Annabell June (Philbeck) Moore. On May 17, 1989, she married Lawrence “Bud” Tolley and shared 11 years of marriage.
Sandy was a staple throughout the town of Arcadia. She attended Hamilton Heights High School and was a part of the graduating class of 1969. After graduating, Sandy attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. She was a beautician for over 20 years.
Sandy had a loving soul and would donate time and cut hair at the Arcadia Children’s Home. Sandy was also very involved in the children’s lives and activities; she enjoyed coaching the boys’ Little League teams and being a Cub Scout Leader. After the boys had grown and Sandy retired from being a beautician, she enjoyed bartending and would bartend at both the Eagles and Donovan’s. She was a member of the Elevation Church, the Fraternal Order of the Noblesville Eagles, and Cicero Memorial Post VFW Post 8756 Auxiliary.
In her free time, she liked to travel, take motorcycle rides, walleye fishing with Bud, work on her koi pond, tend to her flowers, and be with her dogs Roscoe and Angel. Sandy was known by many in the community as a woman who always had open arms and would spend time giving advice, guidance, and a great ear for listening.
Sandy is survived by her two sons, Kane (Tammy) Hutchison and Nick Hutchison, both of Arcadia; mother, Annabell June Philbeck-Wilson of Lebanon; several stepsiblings, stepchildren, adopted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and three special friends who have been by Sandy’s side through thick and thin.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Bud” Tolley; father, Herschel E. “Bud” Moore; brothers, Terry Moore, Buddy Moore, and John Moore.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Sandy at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Cicero American Legion Post 341, 50 Washington Ave., Cicero.
