Sam Brodt of Fishers placed fifth in the nation and earned All-American honors at the 2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, N.C.
Brodt (top) threw a personal best 149 feet, 6 inches in the Boys 15-16 javelin event. Going into the competition ranked 21st out of 93 qualifiers, he threw a personal best 148-11 in the qualifying round to make the finals.
Brodt, who finished third in the 2017 national meet, competes in the javelin on both the AAU and USATF circuits. He is an eight-time national qualifier, a seven-time regional champion and a seven-time state champion in the javelin event. He is a junior at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
Fishers High School sophomore Olivia Norris (bottom) placed 10th in the Girls 14-15 javelin competition at the 2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games with a throw of 106-2.
Both Brodt and Norris are members of the Fishers Fire track club.
