Sally Marie Grove, 89, Cicero, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. She was born on July 29, 1935, to Lyle Ralph and Mary Marie (Cummings) Gibbs in Burlington, Iowa.
Sally graduated from Drake University and later obtained a master’s degree at Western Michigan University. She married Ron Grove on July 11, 1970. Sally taught for many years in the Urbandale Iowa and then East Grand Rapids School Systems. After retirement, Ron and Sally traveled extensively in their motor home, visiting relatives, and making new friends across the country. She also visited countries on six continents. She enjoyed genealogy, and amassed an extensive collection of family history. There was never a baseball game played by anyone, anywhere that she wouldn’t go to. She always brought her lunch along, for many years in a brown paper bag.
She is survived by her children, Brad (Sue) Baker of Cicero, Shelly (Brad) Ward of Fort Worth, Texas, Brian (Jen) Baker of Chesterfield, Ind., Dan (Chantelle) Grove of Coon Rapids, Iowa, and Dena (Jeff) Brandon of West Des Moines, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Richard Gibbs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mike Gibbs of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Jackie Erickson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Margeret Benson of Papillion, Neb.; and an extensive network of nieces and nephews, and their children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be next to Ron at Grandville Cemetery in Grandville, Mich., the next day.
