Hamilton Southeastern won its Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener Friday night, beating Franklin Central 55-44 in an away game.
The Class 4A No. 2 Royals slowly built a lead in the first half, going up 12-7 after one quarter and 28-18 at halftime. Southeastern increased its advantage to 41-29 after three quarters.
Maya Makalusky scored 31 points, draining five 3-pointers, and led the rebounds with seven. Kayla Brinley collected five rebounds and Kennedy Holman had four rebounds and two blocked shots. Antonette Green dished out four assists.
The Royals are 5-0 and host Brownsburg on Tuesday for another HCC game.
