The Hamilton Southeastern softball team split two games at the Whiteland Warrior Invitational last Saturday.
The Royals dropped their first game 10-9 to Whiteland. Southeastern scored one run in the first inning; Lani Wyrick got home on Jenna Chase’s RBI groundout.
In the second inning, the Royals put up seven runs. Megan Wincek singled in Sayla Stock, then Addy Justice drove in Wincek and Wyrick with a center field hit. Chase doubled Justice home, then was brought in by a Keira Lodes hit. Reese Garland scored on a wild pitch, then Lodes got home on Alex Kiemeyer’s RBI groundout.
Southeastern led 8-0, but Whiteland put up six runs in the top of the third. The Royals got a run back in the bottom of the third when Emmy Seifferlein scored on Wyrick’s RBI groundout. The Warriors tied the game at 9-9 in the top of the fourth inning, then got the go-ahead run in the fifth.
Garland was 4-for-4 at the plate.
In its second game, Southeastern beat Brownstown Central 14-0 in five innings. Wyrick, Garland and Makenna Selm all had three hits; one of Garland’s hits was a double. Wyrick and Chase both batted in three runs, with Wyrick, Makena Burlingame and Selm all scoring three runs. Grace Swedarsky pitched the complete game, striking out 13.
The Royals are 10-3 and host Fishers Tuesday for the Mudsock game, then play Friday at Pendleton Heights.
