Hamilton Southeastern picked up its 10th win of the season Tuesday with a 5-2 Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory over Avon.
The Royals got on the board in the third inning with three runs. Stephanie Penny batted in the first run, scoring Payton Fox with a bases-loaded center field hit. Madi Yankauskas drew a walk to bring in Jenna Chase, then Morgan Hicks scored on a wild pitch.
The Orioles cut the lead to 5-2 by the middle of the fifth inning. Alex Kiemeyer stepped up in the bottom of the fifth, sending a two-run home run over the left field fence. Yankauskas also scored; she had gotten on base with a left field hit.
Yankauskas had two hits on the day. Grace Swedarsky threw a complete game, striking out 12 and allowing four hits.
Southeastern is 2-0 in the conference and 10-2 overall. The Royals host Lawrence North on Thursday.
