Hamilton Southeastern also picked up two tough victories Saturday at the Fishers Classic.
In their first game, the Royals defeated Ben Davis 68-59. Southeastern blasted out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter, with Riley Makalusky scoring nine points. The Royals led 40-28 at halftime. The Giants mounted a comeback in the third period and pulled within one with around three minutes left, but Southeastern held them off and pulled away for the win.
Riley Makaluksy finished the game with 22 points, while Maya Makalusky scored 21 points. Olivia Brown added 14 points and made four steals. Zoe Bolding collected six rebounds, while Teegan Acres pulled five.
The Royals won a thriller in their second game, beating Center Grove 69-64 in double overtime. Southeastern was up 31-24 at halftime, but the Trojans came back in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Center Grove led 61-58 with three seconds left in the first OT, but Teegan Acres drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie things up again. The Royals then outscored the Trojans 8-3 in the second overtime.
Four Southeastern players reached double figures in scoring. Riley Makalusky led with 17 points, while Acres scored 14 and Maya Makalusky had 13. Both Acres and Maya Makalusky went 3-for-3 from 3-point range.
Brown added 11 points and also dished out nine assists, made six steals and collected five rebounds. Zoe Bolding had three blocked shots and Maya Makalusky had two.
The Royals are 3-0 and host Franklin Community on Wednesday.
