Royals fall to LN in invite opener

Hamilton Southeastern dropped the first game of its invitational for its season opener on Friday, as Lawrence North made a seventh-inning comeback to beat the Royals 5-3.
The Wildcats got the game’s first run in the top of the first inning. Southeastern got on the board in the fourth inning with two runs: Griffen Haas doubled home Cole Earlewine, then Haas would score on a passed ball.
Haas picked up a second run in the sixth inning, when he got home on Ty Bradle’s sacrifice fly. But Lawrence North scored four runs in the top of the seventh, then held on in the bottom of the inning.
Haas had two hits for the Royals, and Earlewine hit a double. Brady Strawmeyer threw six strikeouts, while Sam Reagan struck out five.
The Royals continue their invitational by hosting two teams today, taking on DeKalb at 10 a.m. and McCutcheon at 7 p.m.
