Royals easily beat Ballard

Hamilton Southeastern got off to a solid start at the Super Preps tournament, cruising past Louisville Ballard 11-0 in five innings on Wednesday.
The Royals, ranked No. 7 in Class 4A, scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Jacob Daftari got Southeastern on the board with a two-RBI single. That was followed by an RBI double for Jake Stout, then Zach Boyle hit a single to score another run.
The Royals scored two runs in the third. Stout sent Daftari home on a single, then later scored himself after Boyle reached on error. This was followed by four more HSE runs in the fourth: Cole DeWael had an RBI single, then Daftari smacked a triple into center field to score two runs. Stout sent Daftari home on a single.
Cam Bolling scored the Royals’ final run of the game in the fifth inning, after getting on base with a double.
Daftari and Stout both finished the game 3-for-3, with Daftari totaling four RBIs and Stout batting in three runs. DeWael was 2-for-3 at the plate.
Tyler Schweitzer got the win, tossing four strikeouts in three innings.
Southeastern is 2-2 and will play Louisville Trinity at 5 p.m. today.
