The Class 4A Hamilton Southeastern Royals simply refuse to lose.
Already on a five-game winning streak heading into their home contest with Brownsburg, on Friday, Feb. 20, the Royals flipped the switch in the second quarter and made it six straight.
Down 12-11 after the first quarter against the Hoosier Crossroads Conference rival Bulldogs, HSE outscored its opponent 32-13 through the next two frames to win big, 60-37.
HSE improved to 13-9 overall and finished 4-3 in the HCC. The Royals’ win streak began on Jan. 31 against Pendleton Heights and included a pair of HCC wins.
The Royals were led by sophomore Varschon Clark against Brownsburg with a game-high 20 points and three steals. Senior Landon Osswald posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He added a block and two assists.
Senior Luke Weemer had nine points and 12 rebounds with two assists. Seniors Jack Jacobs and Kallen Hoeft both chipped in five points each.
