The Hamilton Southeastern girls won two games in Evansville last Saturday.
First, the Royals took care of Castle 14-2. The defense shut out the Knights in the first half. Senior Olivia Dean led with three forced turnovers, also getting a draw control and a ground ball. Junior Norah Brandenburg finished the game with two forced turnovers and helped on the offensive end with her first goal of the year. Senior Morgan Lemieux and junior Meredith Simonetti both added a forced turnover for the Royals’ defense.
Junior Sarah Gastineau led the Southeastern offense with three goals and two assists for five total points. Senior Jessie Lyons scored three goals, and fellow seniors Sidney Sloan and Brooke Bilbrey both dished out three assists in addition to scoring a goal, giving them four points each. Junior Reese Bradley scored two goals, while Olivia Bradley, Edie Fisher and Regan Janes all scoring one.
The Royals followed that victory with a 13-5 win over Evansville Memorial. Dean had another outstanding defensive game with three forced turnovers and three ground balls. Lemieux had two forced turnovers and a ground ball, while Brandenburg and Emma Kraus both made one forced turnover.
Lyons led the scoring with four goals and two assists, for six points. Fisher added three goals, followed by Tate Farrell and Gastineau with two goals each. Senior Brooke Daugherty and Sloan both scored one goal, with Daugherty dishing out four assists. Reese Bradley had two assists, with Evelynn Armstrong, Sam Kim, Anna Silver and Janes each handing out one.
Southeastern travels to Center Grove on Thursday, then hosts Heritage Christian and Penn on Saturday.

The Westfield girls team split a pair of games at Evansville last Saturday.
First, the Shamrocks beat Evansville Memorial 10-6. Ally Weirick and Kayla Reis each scored three goals, while Ella Lowery had three ground balls. Jazmine Gonzalez made seven goalkeeper saves. Westfield fell to Evansville North in its second game.
The Shamrocks are 3-3 and play Thursday at Guerin Catholic.

The Hamilton Southeastern boys picked up an 8-7 home win over Cincinnati St. Xavier last Saturday.
Kyle Jenkins led the Royals scoring with four goals. John Pauls dished out three assists to go with two goals, with David Gould and Henry Wans both scoring one goal. Jenkins and Brody Carlson both collected three ground balls. Luke Williams made eight goalkeeper saves.
Southeastern is 3-0 and plays at Center Grove tonight.

Westfield’s boys defeated Crown Point 9-6 last Saturday.
Theo Dager had a dominant day on offense by scoring five goals. Owen Foreman, Zach Lunsford, Keegan Krupp and Sam Meyers all had one goal. Foreman and Meyers both dished out two assists and Krupp handed out one.
The Shamrocks are 2-1 and play tonight at Brebeuf Jesuit.

Guerin Catholic’s boys won a hard-fought 14-12 game at South Bend St. Joseph last Saturday.
Evan Bair had five goals, with John Stordy scoring four and Luke Sell putting in three goals. JB Ford and Gavin Soucie each had one goal. Bair, Ford, Soucie and Sell all handed out one assist.
Sell had a nice defensive day with five ground balls, while Elias Niccum collected four ground balls. Sean Laferriere and Stordy each had three ground balls. Niccum had 15 saves as goalkeeper.
