Roundup: Carmel runs away from Anderson, Tigers tame Red Devils

The Carmel boys basketball team made a nice comeback at the Eric Clark Activity Center on Wednesday, running away with the fourth quarter to beat Anderson 48-37.

The Greyhounds trailed 23-17 at halftime. Carmel jumped ahead to lead 30-28 after three periods, then 38-32 with 3:24 left. The Hounds poured in another 10 points during those last few minutes to get the victory.

Sam Orme had an amazing game, scoring 33 points. Alex Couto added six points, while Owen Huber added four points. Ryan Clevenger and Spencer White both had two points and Jared Bonds scored one point.

Carmel is 7-3 and next plays Jan. 6 at Center Grove.

The Fishers girls basketball team played at Jeffersonville Wednesday as part of the Body Armour Showcase, and beat the host Red Devils 66-59.

Jeffersonville led 13-8 after one quarter, but the Tigers would outscore the Red Devils over the next three periods. Fishers cut Jeffersonville’s lead to 29-28 by halftime, then went ahead in the third quarter, eventually taking a 45-40 advantage. The Tigers clinched the game with 21 points in the fourth.

Alycia Triplett scored 19 points for Fishers, followed by Talia Harris with 13.

The Tigers are 12-2 and host Pike on Tuesday.
