Westfield won its Senior Night game on Saturday, beating New Castle 61-53 at The Rock.
The game was a showcase for two Shamrock seniors: Zach Banks and Caleb Welch each scored 22 points. Welch was outstanding from the field, making 9 of 11 shot attempts, including three 3-pointers. Banks went 6 of 6 from the free throw line, in addition to an 8-of-14 effort from the field.
Westfield trailed 14-13 after the first quarter, but pulled ahead 27-24 by halftime. The ‘Rocks outscored the Trojans 17-12 in the fourth period to clinch the win and held New Castle’s leading scorer well under his season average.
Braden Smith pulled six rebounds; both he and Mason Brooks added five points.
Westfield is 12-9 and finishes the regular season Tuesday at Mount Vernon.
