The Westfield girls tennis team continued its tough schedule this week by taking on two Hoosier Crossroads Conference opponents.
On Tuesday, the No. 10-ranked Shamrocks beat No. 7 Hamilton Southeastern 3-2 at the Royals’ courts. Westfield’s wins came from No. 1 singles Isabella Norris 6-2, 6-0, No. 2 singles Addi Kooi 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 and No. 2 doubles Bri Saylor and Olivia Krauss.
Southeastern’s winners were No. 2 singles Emma Bieberich 6-1, 6-4 and No. 1 doubles Misha Bukkasagaram and Emily Orme 6-1, 6-4.
Westfield hosted No. 6 Zionsville on Thursday, and the Eagles edged out the ‘Rocks 3-2 for their first loss of the season. Kooi won 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Olivia Krauss and Saylor won the No. 2 doubles match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Westfield is 6-1 and will play at the Crawfordsville Invitational on Saturday.
Hamilton Heights beat Frankton 5-0 in a Wednesday dual meet.
The Huskies won all five matches in straight sets. In singles, Ella Maiden won 6-2, 6-1, Olivia Mansfield was victorious 6-4, 6-3 and Samantha Burk was a 6-3, 6-4 winner. In doubles, Jenna Kelley and Maddi Martin won 6-0, 6-2 and Meredith Dodson and Taylor Harley won 6-2, 6-1.
