Westfield got back on the winning track Friday night, beating Avon 63-53 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at The Rock.
The Shamrocks led 13-11 after the first quarter, then extended that advantage in the second period to take a 25-18 halftime lead. The Orioles cut into Westfield’s lead slightly in the third quarter, but a 23-point fourth period from the ‘Rocks settled the game.
Braden Smith scored 24 points for Westfield, with Cam Haffner adding 16. Both made three 3-pointers. Smith also had five rebounds.
The Shamrocks are 3-2 in conference play and 10-4 overall. Westfield travels to Greenfield-Central tonight.
