‘Rocks hold off Mavericks for second straight win

Westfield held off McCutcheon to win its second straight game on Thursday, beating the Mavericks 51-48 at The Rock.
The Shamrocks led 15-10 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 27-16 by halftime. McCutcheon began to chip away at that advantage during the third quarter, but Westfield still led 38-30 at the end of that period. The Mavericks got within 45-43 with a minute and a half left in the fourth quarter, but the ‘Rocks held on for the win.
Alyssa Crockett led the way for Westfield, with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jessica Castor added nine points and handed out six assists.
The Shamrocks are 5-3 and travel to Noblesville Saturday afternoon for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
