The Westfield boys wrestling team won a Wednesday dual meet over Zionsville by the score of 37-22.
The Shamrocks took nine of the 14 matches, starting with a quick pin for 120-pounder Porter Temples. Westfield then won four bouts in a row starting at 132 pounds to take a 20-3 lead; Jake Saez got a technical fall at 144 pounds, while Carter Niccum (at 132), Alic Washburn (at 138) and Graydon Staley (at 150) all won by decision.
The Eagles won four of the next five matches to get within 23-22; Eli Turner scored a decision win for Westfield at 175 pounds. But the ‘Rocks finished the meet by taking the final three matches: Job Mavrick got a decision victory at 285, Connor Maddox picked up a technical fall at 106 and Brayden Head made a third-period pin for the 113-pound match.
