‘Rocks drop opener to Pendleton

Westfield lost its season-opener on Tuesday, falling to Pendleton Heights 54-43 at The Rock.
The Shamrocks overcame a slow start to lead 10-9 after the first quarter and 19-17 at halftime. The Arabians took control in the third quarter, holding Westfield to just three points while taking a 27-22 lead. The fourth period saw both teams get going offensively, but Pendleton again outscored the ‘Rocks in the quarter to secure the win.
Caleb Welch led Westfield with 15 points, while Zach Banks scored 12. Both players made two 3-pointers. Welch and Jack Reinoehl both pulled six rebounds.
The Shamrocks will host Class 4A No. 8 Zionsville on Friday for their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game of the season.
