Westfield dropped its first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game of the season on Friday, falling to Brownsburg 60-48 at The Rock.
The Bulldogs led 13-9 after the first quarter and 27-21 at halftime, then pulled further away in the third period, allowing the Class 4A No. 10 Shamrocks only eight points in that quarter. Brownsburg led 43-29 after three; Westfield poured in 19 points in the fourth, but Brownsburg was able to maintain its double-digit lead.
Braden Smith scored 25 points for the Shamrocks, with Matthew Penley adding 13 points. Smith collected eight rebounds and Cam Haffner pulled seven rebounds.
Westfield is now tied with Zionsville for first place in the HCC, as both schools have 3-1 records. The ‘Rocks are 9-3 overall and play another conference game next Friday at Avon.
