‘Rocks cruise at Chatard

The Westfield girls basketball team cruised to a 59-42 victory at Bishop Chatard on Wednesday.
The Shamrocks, ranked No. 6 in the Class 4A coaches poll and No. 7 in the IBCA one-class poll, jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter, then ramped up its defense even more in the second period to lead 34-17 at halftime. Westfield then led 48-25 after three quarters.
Alyssa Crockett scored 20 points for the ‘Rocks and also collected six rebounds. Emmrey Collinsworth added 10 points. Chesney Tebbe scored nine points and made five steals, while Olivia Robey had eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Hailey Remaks dished out five assists and Crockett made three blocked shots. Nine different players scored for the Shamrocks.
Westfield improved to 14-3 with the victory. The Shamrocks will next host 3A No. 7 Hamilton Heights in a Saturday afternoon all-county game.
