‘Rock the Block’ community party coming to Westfield High School Aug. 5

The Westfield community, and the surrounding areas, are invited to attend the first-ever Rock the Block community party on the Westfield High School practice football field.

Scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, the free public event is slated to feature nearly 100 booths with carnival-style games, activities for all ages, musical performances, a live DJ and a parade of food trucks. Prizes will be first-come, first-served. Parking will be available at Westfield Intermediate School, Westfield Middle School, Westfield High School and the Westfield Public Library.

This community party is to celebrate the start of a new school year for Westfield Washington Schools. There will be community organizations in attendance as well as district resources to help families get their school year started in a positive fashion.

Ashley Knott, coordinator of family and community engagement for Westfield Washington Schools, says an event like this is long overdue.

Knott

“We’ve all gone through so much lately that it’s time we start celebrating our successes,” Knott said. “We have an amazing school district, an awesome community and it finally feels like the pandemic is in our rearview mirror. It’s been a few years since this school district has been able to start the school year off with a big event, so I know a lot of people in our community will be looking forward to an event like this.”
