Robert Darrell Dean, 77, Arcadia, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 while on vacation in Tucson, Ariz. He was born July 28, 1941 to Charlie Oscar Dean and Nettie Irene (House) Dean in Morganfield, Ky.
Darrell proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Davis Monthan AFB his full term. His job was to see the ejection seats were in proper working order. He was sometimes flown to another location to replace or repair seats in a plane. Darrell loved serving his country and was always proud to be a veteran.
Darrell married Barbara “Joyce” Cope on June 29, 1962 and remained in that union until her death on May 31, 2008.
Darrell loved life as made evident by his many fishing trips, hunting trips, golf games, singing in a group called the Peacemakers, traveling, photography, and serving in various positions in church.
He worked as hard as he played, earning a retirement from Alcatel-Lucent, Conagra, and Kraft foods.
He married Marie Back on July 10, 2011. They were both retired and enjoyed living part time in Florida and Indiana, as well as traveling to many other places, including honeymooning in Australia.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Marie; his goddaughter, Victoria Cowan; his brother, Charles Bernie Dean; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Joyce; brother, William Franklin Dean; and three sisters, Mildred “Edith” Dean, Betty Jean Dean and Naomi Ruth Dean.
Services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to the time of service on Sunday. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 E. Washington St. in Indianapolis.
