Riverview Health welcomes Trenton Schmale, DO, to Sheridan Family Medicine and Jeni Clayton, MD, MPH, to Prairie Lakes Family Medicine.
Dr. Schmale says he is passionate about sports medicine and played football at Carmel High School and at Taylor University. He is board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine. He did a family medicine residency in Muncie with an interest in preventive medicine and outpatient procedures. He also completed a sports fellowship at the University of Missouri Kansas City where he specialized in primary care sports medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Schmale attended medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to becoming a physician, he worked as a contracted biochemist at Lilly.
Dr. Schmale says he enjoys building strong relationships with his patients and their families, as well as being an active member of his local community. He spends his spare time with his wife and kids and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Dr. Schmale says he enjoys hiking, skiing, and playing card and board games.

Jeni Clayton, MD, MPH, uses lifestyle medicine as the foundation for treatment of chronic disease, with medications and medical interventions being used as necessary. Dr. Clayton encourages and empowers patients to live healthier lives by addressing nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management and the avoidance of harmful substances.
Dr. Clayton attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her residencies at Loma Linda University in California, and her fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine at Black Hills Health and Education Center in South Dakota. She is board-certified in family medicine, preventive medicine and lifestyle medicine. Dr. Clayton grew up in northern Indiana and says she enjoys hiking, traveling and gardening.
