Facility will address growing demand for gastroenterology & digestive surgical services

Riverview Health announced on Wednesday plans for its new Endoscopy Center, which will be located on the sixth floor of the Westfield Hospital at 17600 Shamrock Blvd.

“This expansion addresses the growing demand for gastroenterology and digestive health services in the community,” Riverview Health President & CEO Dave Hyatt said. “It furthers our commitment to providing the community with readily available care.”

The addition of several gastroenterology physicians to the Riverview Health team over the past year currently offers patients the opportunity to schedule within a few weeks, rather than the several months it can take with other health systems. The addition of this 11,500 square-foot project, which involves repurposing current primary-care space to an entire floor purposely designed to provide surgical procedures, will offer a state-of-the-art facility as Riverview’s digestive health services continue to grow.

Wednesday’s announcement included a video address from Nancy and Jarett Andretti, wife and son of the late IndyCar and NASCAR driver John Andretti, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 and passed away in 2020.

Nancy Andretti serves as president & director of CheckIt4Adretti Foundation which is partnering with Riverview Health to tackle colorectal cancer through proactive prevention and early detection.

“We are thrilled to partner with Riverview Health,” Andretti said.

By leveraging Riverview’s medical infrastructure and expertise in clinical care alongside the Foundation’s outreach efforts, this partnership ensures vital screenings reach those in the community that may not otherwise be able to afford a screening colonoscopy.
